Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has ruled out five players completely as the Red Devil’s prepare to host Westbrom in Saturday’s Premier League encounter.
Solksjaer’s men will play 12 games under six weeks, in three different competitions, before the end of 2020.
However, the manager will be looking forward to having a full house at the end of the day, at least to boost their chances of winning a silverware this season.
“The short version is it’s Luke Shaw, Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones are the only ones who didn’t join in parts of the training today,’ Solskjaer told a press conference on Friday.
“Some are in different stages after internationals, recoveries and working back after illness and fitness and we’ll make a decision tonight but most of them have joined in today and some yesterday, so it’s looking good.
“Possibles but some of them are probably some doubts. Marcus [Rashford] joined for the first time today, hopefully no reaction, [Eric] Bailly first day today so no, him and Marcos Rojo joined for the first time for a month, so they’re not ready, Victor [Lindelof], we’ll have to check tomorrow because his back is not great.”
Rashford, who picked up a knock in United’s game against Everton before the international break could be doubtful for the Baggies clash. But, Solskjaer has left the decision in the striker’s hands on whether he will feature or not. ‘He’s worked in the gym and has got treatment,’ said the Norwegian.
‘He joined in the session today and I hope he’ll hold his hand up and say he’s ready. That will be up to him. I think he feels okay.
One player that is yet to make his debut for the Red Devils is Portuguese left back, Alex Telles who signed this summer from FC Porto.
Telles has been struggling with fitness and after testing positive for coronavirus, the manager has hinted that the 27-year-old may likely feature in today’s game.
“He appears to be clear of all problems now, though, and is likely to play against West Brom. ‘All the tests from the internationals were negative, which is good,’ said Solskjaer of the conronavirus procedure.
“Alex Telles travelled [to South America] and wanted to play [for Brazil] but then I think there was a mix-up with the tests – positive/negative and there was loads of talk about if he was going or not, first of all to the first game and then to second game”.
