Threats to sue the government for the debilitating blackouts in South Africa have been made by opposition groups, a trade union, and company owners.
They have given the administration till Friday to stabilize the supply of energy or risk legal action for failing to uphold its obligation to do so.
They claim that the state is in violation of its duty to provide power and have sent a demand letter to Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan and the head of the state utility Eskom, Andre de Ruyter.
Due to poor management and mismanagement at the state-owned company Eskom, the blackouts have lasted for more than ten years.
Recently, the nation has seen daily power outages of up to ten hours.
Due to the issue, the president decided to meet with business and labour leaders at home instead of travelling to the World Economic Forum in Davos.
