Southampton on Sunday beat Leeds United 1-0 during the Championship play-off final at Wembley to guarantee their return to Premier League.
The Saints got relegated to the Championship after 11 years in the top flight last season, but have now joined Leicester City and Ipswich in going up to the Premier League.
It was an encounter that Nigeria’s Super Eagles Joe Aribo put up an impressive performance to silence the opponent.
Aribo, who has been omitted from the latest Nigeria squad for 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Benin, registered four goals in 40 games across all competitions in 2023-2024.

In any case, Adam Armstrong eventually became the man of the moment, after scoring the winning goal at first half for Saints.
Adam Armstrong scored the decisive goal with a clinical finish in the 24th minute, after being put clear by Will Smallbone.
It was his 24th goal of the season for Southampton.
Defeat for Leeds consigns them to another season in the Championship and means they have now lost their past three finals at Wembley without scoring.
