The Southern Governors Forum on Thursday said all its members’ states must promulgate the anti-open grazing law by August 4.
They jointly agreed on the date during their meeting on Monday in Lagos.
The governors had in May announced a ban on open grazing in all the 17 Southern states.
They recommended that the Federal Government should support willing states to develop alternative and modern livestock management systems.
A communiqué released after the meeting stated that the forum also deliberated on constitutional amendment and Petroleum Industry Bill.
The forum commended lawmakers for the passage of PIB, but rejected the 3% set for the host communities.
Also, the governors unanimously chose Lagos State as their permanent Secretariat.
