The growing hardship in Nigeria pushed man identified as Shaibu Alhaji to attempt suicide in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja on Monday.
The said man who reportedly climbed a 120ft broadcast mast belonging to a media house in the Kamtape Hill area of Abuja, called on Nigerians to join him in the protest over the hardship in the country.
Heritage Times HT reports that the man who left a note detailing his intention, was later rescued by joint efforts of the Federal Fire Service, National Emergency Management Agency, and officials of the Federal Capital Territory.
This was also as emergency responders who were on the ground persuaded him after which he came down from the mast.
Heritage Times HT recalls that in 2018, a similar incident happened in the nation’s capital when one Nurudeen Lliyasu climbed a telecommunication mast to protest worsening economic hardship.
