All players invited by Coach Gernot Rohr have arrived at the Super Eagles camp in Austria ahead of friendly matches with African champions, Algeria and the continent’s second-ranked team Tunisia on Friday and Tuesday.
Among the invited players is former German U-20 captain Kevin Akpoguma who recently obtained clearance from FIFA to represent Nigeria.
Akpoguma arrival solidifies a dependable backline which has the likes of Leon Balogun, Kenneth Omeruo, Chidozie Awaziem, William Ekong, Jamilu Collins, Olaoluwa Aina, Oluwasemilogo Ajayi, and first-time invitee Zaidu Sanusi.
Other members of the invited Eagles team include Captain Ahmed Musa, Alex Iwobi, Kenneth Omeruo, Samuel Chukwueze as well as New birds Frank Onyeka, Chidera Ejuke and former U17 captain Samson Tijani.
There will be no electrifying display from Victor Osimhen and midfielder lynchpin Wilfred Ndidi as the duo did not make it to Rohr’s list.
It is worthwhile to note that Algeria have an impressive 18-match unbeaten run in addition to being champions of Africa.
Their match with the Super Eagles will kick off at 8.30 pm Austrian time (7.30 pm Nigeria time).
