Nigerian Super Eagles midfielder Etebo Oghenekaro has left English Championship side, Stoke City, and teamed up with Greek Premier League club Aris FC.
Confirming the latest development via its website on Friday, the Greek club wrote, “PAE ARIS announce the signing of Oghenekaro Peter Etebo for one year.
“As of today, Oghenekaro Peter Etebo belongs to the ARIS family!”
His first season in England was very positive, but the change of manager at Stoke City in the second season changed the situation for the Nigerian midfielder, who was loaned out for six months to Spanish side Getafe in January 2020.
Fifty-one appearances with two goals in the Championship and FA Cup were his tally for Stoke City before he left for Spain where he played 11 times, scoring one goal. He then returned to England at the end of the season.
The Nigerian international spent last season on loan with Premier League side Watford FC but injury scuttled his time with the club as they suffered relegation at the end of the season.
Oghenekaro had been one of the main stars for Super Eagles until recently when injury led him to spend more time off the pitch.
While playing in the Nigeria apex domestic league, the Delta-born footballer spent most time with Warri Wolves.
