President Cyril Ramaphosa will leverage the 55th World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, to outline South Africa’s priorities during its G20 presidency this year.
The WEF annual meeting, scheduled from 20-24 January and themed “Collaboration in the Intelligent Age,” aims to foster partnerships and insights for a sustainable and inclusive future in an era of rapid technological advancement.
Ramaphosa’s office announced on Monday that the President will deliver a special address at the forum, presenting South Africa’s economic priorities and promoting the country’s G20 presidency, which focuses on “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability.”
“South Africa is dedicated to utilising the G20 platform to emphasise the importance of fostering economic growth while ensuring social inclusion and environmental responsibility,” stated his office.
Under its G20 presidency, South Africa has committed to creating equitable opportunities by addressing systemic disparities and fostering global unity to tackle shared challenges collaboratively.
The WEF meeting offers a prime opportunity for South Africa to showcase its potential as a global investment hub and highlight ongoing structural reforms.
The forum, which gathers global leaders, will tackle key challenges such as geopolitical tensions, economic growth to enhance living standards, and transitioning to a just and inclusive energy future.
South Africa’s delegation, comprising key government and business leaders, will engage with international stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and advance the country’s economic and social agenda.
