Nigeria’s Table tennis star Quadri Aruna has reached the quarter-final of the ongoing 2023 WTT Smash tournament.
Quadri dusted his Japanese opponent Tomokazu Harimoto who is ranked world number four 3-0 in three straight sets to advance into the last eight of the men’s singles in Singapore on Thursday.
The Russian-based Aruna had worked extra hard in the qualifying round and round of 32 before he could secure a round of 16 spot.
He dominated the game from start to win first set 11-7.
Quadri, Africa’s number one also clinched the second set 13-11, before wrapping up the final set 11-7.
The Nigerian star will now square up against Hugo Calderano and Darko Jorgi in the quarter-final game on Friday.
With the latest feat, Quadri has now surpassed his achievement in the 2022 edition when he bowed out at second round.
The highly rated competition which kicked off on Saturday March 11, will end on March 19.
