Again, Nigeria’s Table Tennis sensation Aruna Quadri, has retained his number one position in Africa.
This was revealed in the latest World ranking by International Table Tennis Federation, (ITTF).
According to the ranking, Quadri is 14th on the global scene.
Quadri has been at the top position since 2022, and has continued to dominate the continent.
So far in 2023, the Nigerian has taken part in two competitions.
He participated and got to the quarter final stage of the WTT Contender in Durban, South Africa and exited in the round of 16 stage of the WTT Contender in Doha, Qatar.
Talking about other positions, the World Ranking remained largely unchanged, with the first change coming at the 40th position as China’s Qihao Zhou moved up one position to displace India’s Sathiyan Ghanasekaran, who dropped to 41st.
Nigeria had only one other player in the top 100.
He is Taiwo Mat, a teenager, who dropped two places to be ranked 99th in the World.
In the women’s category, Fatimo Bello is the highest-ranked Nigerian player, maintaining the 64th position in the world, while Offiong Edem is ranked 124th.
China maintained their domination of the game, with Zhendong Fan, Long Ma and Chuqin Wang maintaining the top three places in the World Ranking.
