Former Manchester United forward, Dwight Yorke, has revealed that people criticising the Red Devils boss and his former team mate, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are doing so out of ‘pure jealousy’.
Solskjaer, who is overseeing his second full season at high-flying Manchester United, took over the reins from Jose Mourinho as a permanent successor in March, 2019.
The Norwegian guided the club to a third-place Premier League finish and three semi-finals last season, having brought in the likes of Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Bruno Fernandes along the way.
The 47-year-old, came under severe criticisms early this season, following a disappointing Champions League exit at the start of December, which led to calls for his ouster.
However, the Red Devils kept faith with their legend amid intense pressure, and it looks like they have been rewarded for their patience owing to the club’s recent run of form which has seen them rise to the summit of the Premier League table despite a stuttering start at the beginning.
The introduction of Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles and Donny van de Beek this season, has seen the club receive a huge boost in their quest to win the Premier League title for the first time since 2013.
Meanwhile, Yorke has expressed disappointment with the way his old team mate being treated, ever since he assumed the coaching role.
The trebble winner told The Sun: “There is a lot of jealousy towards Ole from within the game. People don’t want to see him be successful for some reason.
“I have been looking at it and listening to people talk about the football club and it is pure jealousy.
“He did not do great at Cardiff and managed Molde then gets one of the top jobs in world football.
“People in football are begging for an opportunity and he has got this one, he’s won the jackpot.”
