Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr has applauded Ahmed Musa’s move to Nigeria Professional Football League club Kano Pillars, insisting it was the right step towards opening a new chapter in his career.
Musa, 28, rejoined his former club on a short-term contract on Monday, having been out of club action for months since leaving Saudi Arabia outfit Al Shabab in October.
However, Musa’s lack of club action did not deter the coach from including his skipper in his 23-man list for the double-header AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho last month – a move that many questioned.
The fleet-footed winger has now returned to his old team and Rohr is pleased with the move.
“I am very happy for Ahmed Musa to be able to play again with his old club of Kano Pillars,” Rohr said.
“This will allow him to keep in shape while waiting to find a club elsewhere in the world.”
“Kano Pillars are a good club and I wish him all the best at the club.”
