President Bola Tinubu is set to embark on his inaugural official trip abroad since assuming office as Nigeria’s new leader on May 29, 2023.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communication, and Strategy, Dele Alake, his first destination will be Paris, France, where he will join fellow world leaders in a significant global event.
During the trip, President Tinubu will participate in a high-profile Summit hosted by President Emmanuel Macron of France.
The Summit aims to address pressing global issues such as the adverse effects of climate change, the energy crisis, and the lingering impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
One of the key objectives of the Summit is to establish a New Global Financial Pact, prioritizing support and investment for vulnerable nations.
The Summit, scheduled to take place at Palais Brongniart, will span two days.
It will provide a platform for world leaders to discuss strategies for restoring fiscal stability in countries facing immediate financial challenges, particularly those burdened with significant debt.
In addition, the Summit will explore avenues to generate innovative financing for nations vulnerable to climate change, promote development in low-income countries, and encourage investment in eco-friendly infrastructure for the energy transition in emerging and developing economies.
Accompanying President Tinubu on this international mission will be members of the Presidential Policy Advisory Council, along with senior government officials.
The President is expected to return to Abuja on Saturday after the conclusion of the Summit.
