As part of a strategy to eventually send humans back to the Moon, NASA has successfully launched its most powerful rocket.
Jubilant representative of the space agency screamed, “We rise together, back to the Moon and beyond.”
A historic milestone for NASA occurred when the Space Launch System launched from its Florida launch facility at 06:47 GMT (01:47 local time).
Technical difficulties caused the first Artemis I launch to fail at the end of August, and a fuel leak complicated the second attempt at the beginning of September.
Tropical Storm Ian caused the third attempt that was scheduled for late September to be postponed.
The objective of the mission is to send the unmanned Orion spacecraft around the back of the Moon using a powerful rocket.
To return astronauts to the lunar surface after more than 50 years, NASA hopes to do so by 2025.
