Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign long-term defensive target Kalidou Koulibaly.
For the past eight years, Koulibaly has been a cornerstone in the defense for Naples, yet there have been previous summer transfer windows when he has almost departed Serie A.
Aurelio De Laurentiis, owner of Napoli, has always insisted on a hefty transfer fee for the Africa Cup of Nations champion. But with only one year left on his deal, it appears that his current team should cash in on a player who hasn’t been interested in signing a new contract in some time.
Chelsea and Napoli have reportedly reached agreement on a £34 million deal that will see the Senegalese international sign a lucrative long-term contract in west London.
Koulibaly, according to Football Italia, is set to forgo joining Napoli’s preseason training camp because of the quick progress his deal to Chelsea has made on Tuesday.
The player himself hopes that his transfer to the Blues is finalized and declared a “done deal” by Wednesday.
