Arising from his victory at the polls, the US President-Elect Donald Trump has started assembling his cabinet, a process believed to be a right footing in laying the foundation for his administration’s agenda ahead of the January 20, 2025 assumption of office.
Reports from transition insiders indicate that Trump is considering quick selection of key figures for vital roles, especially for departments such as State, Defence, and Treasury.
Analysts suggest that these roles are likely to go to figures who are both loyal to Trump and experienced in their fields, given the challenges facing the incoming administration.
The Secretary of State is expected to play a major role in shaping America’s foreign relations, especially amid ongoing global tensions.
On the other hand, the Secretary of Defence will be responsible for addressing national security concerns and strengthening defense strategies in collaboration with allied nations.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Treasury will guide economic policy, tackling issues such as inflation, recession risks, and fiscal policy.
Analysts are of the opinion that president-elect’s choices will reflect a mix of loyalty, expertise, and strategic political considerations.
Trump’s transition team is reportedly balancing the need to satisfy his core supporters, address critical issues, and, in some cases, collaborate with leaders of congress to ease the screening and confirmation process of nominees.
The cabinet selection process is part of a broader transition effort.
Early announcements are expected to focus on high-profile roles in national security and economic policy, as these appointments will establish a stable foundation and communicate the administration’s top priorities.
Appointees when named will undergo Senate screening and confirmation.
