Tunisia’s Minister of Communication Technologies, Nizar Ben Neji has met with a high-level delegation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) under the US Department of Justice, where cybersecurity and electronic crime, as well as ways to protect networks and basic digital infrastructure in Tunisia were discussed.
The meeting, which was part of the Minister’s visit to the United States from July 24 to 28, emphasized the importance of international coordination in combating digital space dangers.
The meeting also focused on the need to exchange experiences and combat the dangers of the digital space, according to a press release from the Ministry of Communication Technologies on Sunday.
The two parties also discussed the ways of ratifying the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime, as well as the need to develop mechanisms for digital investigation and the fight against electronic crime and irresponsible behaviour on social networks.
The Budapest Convention on Cybercrime serves as a significant international treaty that seeks to harmonize national laws, improve investigative techniques, and increase cooperation among nations in the fight against cybercrime.
