Late rapper and actor Tupac Shakur will be posthumously honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on June 7.
The announcement was made by Hollywood Walk of Fame Producer Ana Martinez, who said that Shakur “has continued to be part of the zeitgeist for decades after his passing and will continue to be an important cultural figure for many years to come.”
Shakur, who was born in East Harlem, New York, in 1971, rose to fame in the early 1990s as one of the most influential rappers of all time.
His music often dealt with social and political issues, and he was known for his outspokenness and activism.
He was also a successful actor, appearing in films such as “Juice” and “Poetic Justice.”
Shakur was shot and killed in Las Vegas in 1996 at the age of 25.
His death remains a mystery, and no one has ever been charged with his murder.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. PT on June 7 at 6260 Hollywood Boulevard.
The ceremony will be hosted by emcee Big Boy and filmmaker Allen Hughes.
Shakur’s sister Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur will accept the star on behalf of the family.
Shakur’s music and films have remained popular till today, and he is considered one of the most important figures in hip-hop history.
His legacy lives on through his music, his activism, and his impact on popular culture.
