Days following the acquisition, sources claim that Twitter’s new CEO Elon Musk intends to charge verified users a $20 monthly fee.
The arrangement was finalized on October 27, just before the court’s deadline, following a protracted back-and-forth between the CEO of Tesla and Twitter executives.
Musk redesigned Twitter’s home page in less than a day, seizing control as “Chief Twit” to firmly establish his rule.
And Chief Twit has given engineers until November 7 to comply with Twitter’s pay-for-play verification scheme or risk losing their jobs.
The Verge reports that the objective is to enhance Twitter Blue’s $4.99 a month subsThe new “Twitter Blue” subscription will cost $19.99 soon on the social media site.
A grace period of 90 days would be given to current members to upgrade their subscriptions before they lost the blue tick.
According to The Platformer, under pressure to increase income, Twitter’s CEO was considering removing free verification.
With over 400,000 verified users, the bird app appears as though its upkeep may be supported by user payments.
Less than 16 million users are able to see the great majority of adverts, according to Musk, who said that bots were more prevalent than what the executives had claimed during the battle to acquire Twitter.
Tesla’s CEO had previously stated his desire to revamp the authentication procedure and deal with bot accounts before Twitter was acquired.
He tweeted on Sunday that “the entire verification process is currently being revised.”
Musk has officially assumed control of Twitter, and his tenure as CEO has brought about a number of changes, including the sacking of some executives, redesigning the homepage, and now the $20 subscription.
