After missing out on staging U20 World Cup, Indonesia have now been awarded the right to host U17 global soccer championship later this year.
FIFA President, Gianni Infantino personally made the announcement on his official social media handles.
He said, “The council has appointed Indonesia as the host for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup.”
Peru earlier scheduled to host the competition was stripped after they failed to meet the standard requirement set by FIFA.
Indonesia initially was expected to host the U20 World Cup but was stripped off due to the political tension between them and Israel.
Senegal, Burkina Faso, Morocco and Mali are the four African countries that will fly their flags at the competition.
Incidentally, Nigeria, five-time World Champions will not take part in the 2023 global soccer fiesta after it failed to qualify during the U17 Africa Cup of Nations held in Algeria some weeks ago.
