Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah will aim to equal a Reds goal scoring record set by club legend, Steven Gerrard against Atletico Madrid in Wednesday’s Champions League clash.
The Egyptian already has five goals to his name from three Champions League appearances this term, one of which came at Anfield in the opening 3-2 win over AC Milan.
Salah’s strike against the Rossoneri was his 13th at Anfield for Liverpool in the Champions League – a feat he has achieved in just 20 continental matches.
Should Salah find the back of the net against Atletico Madrid, he will equal Gerrard’s Liverpool record of 14 home goals in Europe’s elite competition.
James Milner would have been seeking to surpass Gerrard’s assist record in the Champions League – with both men sitting on 12 for Liverpool – but the veteran midfielder will play no part in the contest due to injury.
Liverpool find themselves five points clear at the summit in Group B and could confirm their first-placed finish tonight with a win if Porto fail to beat Milan.
