Hundreds of boarding students at Nakanyonyi Senior Secondary School, a Town in Uganda, are critically ill following suspected food poisoning.
According to reports, samples of the food consumed by the students were taken for examination at the Government Analytical Laboratory in Kampala, the testing is part of a thorough investigation aimed at uncovering the cause of the food poisoning
Over six ambulances and saloon cars were seen rushing the affected students to different hospitals, including St. Francis Naggalama Hospital, Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital and Mukono General Hospital for medical attention.
Naggalama Division Police Commander Simon Tsamusangire who confirmed the incident explained that they were investigating the possible cause.
Tsamusangire said though the children’s condition was critical, they have not yet registered any death.
“Preliminary medical reports from Naggalama Hospital have so far pointed out food poisoning but we are still investigating. Let the parents stay calm, as we handle the situation with the medical personnel,” he said.
It is alleged that the students ate suspected poisoned food for supper.
