The United Kingdom government are making efforts to see that football fans return to the stands during match days to watch their favorite teams.
Football has been played without fans in attendance since the outbreak of corona virus early this year.
Despite the government’s move to fix a return date, the second wave of COVID-19 forced them to rescind their decision of allowing fans into match venues.
Meanwhile, with news of the vaccines close to becoming 95% successful, the UK government looks ready to throw the gate open before the yuletide season.
According to the new plans drawn up by the government, Premier League and Football League clubs could have their fans back next month as reported by SunSport quoting Sportsmail.
A proposal was said to have been submitted by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport to allow supporters in areas with less COVID-19 infection rates to attend games.
However, the government is yet to give the proposal a nod.
Similarly, French government had earlier in the week revealed that fans will not be allowed into match venues until January.
West Ham United boss David Moyes was said to have lamented fans going to cinemas to watch live games but won’t be allowed into the stadia.
“People are going watch a game in a cinema, close to here, why can we not be sitting outside in the open air doing it? Please come out and give us an explanation as to why we can’t do it.”
