Super Falcon’s coach Randy Waldrum has applauded the performance of his players following a pulsating 3-3 draw against Portugal on Monday.
Rasheedat Ajibade scored a late effort to ensure the Super Falcons avoided a second consecutive defeat.
The Portuguese led 2-0 at a point in the game but Michelle Alozie reduced the deficit for the African champions two minutes before the interval.
Telma Encarnação restored Portugal’s two-goal lead in the 49th minute but Asisat Oshoala and Ajibade scored later for the Super Falcons.
The West Africans were a much improved side from the team which suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat to the Reggae Girls of Jamaica in their first game at the invitational tourney last week Thursday.
Waldrum, who was excited about the result, took to the social media to celebrate his players for their superb performance.
“Great way to fight back! Proud of this team and effort! #SuperFalcons,” the American tweeted.
