Former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu has declared interest to purchase 35 per cent stake in Arsenal Football Club of England.
The erstwhile senator is the chairman of SLOK Holding and the Daily Sun and New Telegraph newspapers in Nigeria.
The football-crazy former governor had made ceaseless investment in football over the years.
His notable investment in Enyimba fc led the club to acquire and stockpile the very best legs on the local scene that dominated the continent by winning a slew of titles and notable claiming every trophy on offer in 2004.
However, his attention has shifted to the foreign scene, where he hopes to replicate the successes.
“Our succeses with Enyimba football club between 2003 – 2007 has continuously increased my passion for football,” Kalu said via his Facebook page. “I am considering an investment in football and I will buy 35 per cent stake in Arsenal.”
“Our target is to lift the Champions League and lift the Premier League back to back like we did in Enyimba,” he added.
Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote had long been linked with a move to purchase the North London club, owned by American billionaire Stan Kroenke as part of Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE).
