Serie A side SC Napoli will have their woes further compounded following the financial crisis caused by COVID-19 that has hit the club since the start of the new season.
The Parthenopeans got on to a fine start this season with four wins in their first five Italian League fixtures but are now struggling to maintain such performance in recent weeks.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport as quoted by SunSport, the players have not been paid since July and this has become a major concern among them.
The Sun added that coach Gennaro Gattuso has equally not been paid with the club blaming their inability to pay staff their wages.
Napoli were said to have cut the salaries of their staff to prevent the unfolding situation but that did not seem to be helpful.
Napoli have been one of the many clubs hit by the virus, with two positive tests leading to the club forfeiting a clash with Juventus last month.
Gattuso’s side is one of the many teams affected by COVID-19 as two of their players tested positive for the virus and this led them to lose three points to Juventus last month.
