The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, has highlighted the importance of vocational and technical education as a veritable tool for job creation in the country.
Executive Secretary of the NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote, noted this on Wednesday at a virtual meeting for the Commissioning & Handover of the Renovation & Upgrade Project of Technical & Vocational College, Amoli, Enugu State.
Engr. Simbi while stating that the NCDMB hopes to employ vocational training to boost job creation, also called for cooperation and support from stakeholders to help realize the full potential of the institution, which according to him, has been positioned to not only serve Amoli community, but the entire state and nation at large.
The NCDMB boss further appreciated the Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his excellent support, adding that he is counting on the Management of the school to sustain the integrity of the building and all the other equipment provided.
To the students, Engr. Simbi urged them to become super technicians and entrepreneurs by making the best use of the equipments provided for them.
He charged them that it is their responsibility to use the skills they will acquire to make a living for themselves and in turn contribute to national growth.
Speaking in the vote of thanks, Dr Ama Ikuru, GM Capacity Building Division, NCDMB, applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the vocational training programme for the Board.
He also thanked the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva for his support, and urged the stakeholders and management of the school to secure the building and equipments, and as well encourage the students to become the best in the country.
