Nigerian Striker, Emmanuel Dennis had a dream debut in the English Top Flight football, as he scored and provided an assist to help Watford beat Aston Villa 3-2 on Saturday as the Premier League returned.
Dennis got on the score sheet in the 10th minute slotting in after his initial shot was blocked.
The former Club Brugge striker combined beautifully with Ismaila Sarr for Watford’s second goal when he broke from midfield with a swift counter-attack and slipped the ball out to the Senegalese on the right.
Tyrone Mings did his best to block Sarr’s shot, but could only loop the ball over his keeper and into the far corner of the net.
Dennis became the fourth Nigerian player to score on his Premier League debut, after John Utaka, Peter Odemwingie and Odion Ighalo.
At Goodison Park, Alex Iwobi provided an assist as Everton came from a goal down to beat Southampton 3-1.
Iwobi who came on on 70 minutes laid the ball for Abdoulaye Doucoure in the 76th minute to put Everton 2-1.
With nine minutes left in the game Dominic Calvert-Lewin added the third goal to earn new manager Rafa Benitez a winning start.
And at the King Power stadium, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho featured for Leicester who pipped Wolves 1-0.
