Rangers Manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has suggested that he will not stop Joe Aribo from leaving the club after a successful spell with the Gers.
Aribo joined the Gers from Charlton Athletic in 2019 for just £300,000. He starred under Steven Gerrard and then Giovanni Van Bronckhorst, making 57 appearances in all competitions – scoring nine goals and assisting 10.
He helped end the Gers’ wait for a Scottish Premiership title and then netted in the final of the Europa League last season.
In addition, he played a vital role to help his team secure the Scottish Cup to ensure the club ended the campaign with silverware.
His terrific form has now placed him on the radar of Premier League clubs with Southampton seemingly close to signing the 25-year-old.
“What he [Aribo] has done for this club has been fantastic,” Van Bronckhorst said as quoted by Sky Sports.
“Joe is a very important player for us. His development has been really good and that’s what you want as a club, to get talented players, develop them into really good players and eventually the player has their ambitions.”
Aribo ended last season as the player with most matches, after amassing 68 games for club and country, more than any other player in Europe, with the midfielder playing in a variety of positions.
