Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that WhatsApp users can now log into their individual accounts on up to four phones.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, with Zuckerberg stating in a Facebook post that “Starting today, you can log into the same WhatsApp account on up to four phones.”
WhatsApp was launched as a smartphone messaging app in 2009, and it has since amassed over two billion users worldwide.
Facebook acquired WhatsApp in 2014, a development that has been of significant expansion for the app.
In 2021, WhatsApp introduced a new feature that allowed for the service to be used on multiple non-phone devices, such as computers, without needing to connect to the smartphone app.
Despite these changes, WhatsApp has assured users that the app’s security measures will still be effective.
As the platform noted, “Each companion device will connect to your WhatsApp independently while maintaining the same level of privacy and security through end-to-end encryption that people who use WhatsApp have come to expect.”
