Leicester City coach, Brendan Rodgers, has been handed a major boost ahead of the new Premier League season with the return of Wilfred Ndidi to training.
Ndidi has been out since sustaining a knee injury in Leicester City’s 2-1 second leg defeat at Rennes in the Europa Conference League in March, missing the club’s last 17 games.
His return was made known on Instagram Wednesday after the Foxes posted a video of the 25-year-old midfielder running onto the pitch to join his teammates for his sixth pre-season training at the club.
Beneath the video, the club wrote, “Our Nigeria international (Ndidi) is into the pre-season fold.”
His return to action will also hand Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, a big boost ahead of his team’s 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau in September.
Ndidi, who has two years left on his current deal at the club, last featured for the Eagles in their round of 16 clash against Tunisia at the 2022 AFCON in Cameroon in January, missing the team’s last six games.
