Nigeria will later on Thursday play host country Rwanda in the semi-final of the ongoing 2023 Women’s Afrobasket tournament in Kigali.
The Nigerian women team also known as D’Tigress, powered to victory against resilient Mozambique 59-52 in the quarter-final clash on Wednesday night.
With the win, Nigeria have reached four consecutive semis in the competition.
Earlier same day, Rwanda had narrowly overcome Uganda 66-61 in the last eight battle in front of their home fans at BK Arena.
Both Nigeria and Rwanda had pulled through to the quarter-final stage after finishing top in their group matches.
While Rwanda have rarely dazzled to their current performance against Uganda, Nigeria have now defeated Mozambique four out of their past six meetings to show dominance.
Another Semis
In the other semi-final, Mali will be up against Senegal.
The Malians crushed their West African neighbors, Guinea, in the second quarter final game decided on Wednesday by 96-40 points.
This is the second time both teams are meeting each other in this Championship.
Mali had whitewashed Senegal 72-49 in a group C game on Sunday to advance into the quarter final.
On the other hand, the 11 time Champions, Senegal finished second from the bottom in group C and needed a qualification game win against Egypt to reach the last eight.
To reach the semi final, Senegal defeated Cameroon 80-77 in the first quarter-final.
