The Super Eagles of Nigeria will learn their opponents for the FIFA World Cup qualification play-offs on January 26.
The draw had been scheduled to hold next month, but the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in an Extraordinary Assembly held on Friday, confirmed that a decision was reached to push the process to early next year.
Despite being placed in a seemingly easier Group C with Liberia, Cape Verde, and Central African Republic, Nigeria made heavy weather, but eventually finished top with 13 points. They managed four wins, a draw, and a loss. Cape Verde came second with two points less.
Nigeria will know their opponent for the play-offs while participating at the African Cup of Nations tournament, which will take place in Cameroon from January 9 to February 6.
According to CAF, seeding will be done based on the January 2022 rankings whereby the top five-ranked teams will be paired with five unseeded sides.
