Rabat, a city in Morocco, is currently buzzing ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw scheduled for later on Monday. African football legends Mustapha Hadji, Serge Aurier, Aliou Cissé, and Joseph Yobo have been drafted as assistants for the event.
The much-anticipated draw will take place at the Mohammed V National Theatre.
At the end of the event, the 24 qualified teams for CAF AFCON 2025 will discover their path to the prestigious trophy.
“Hadji, Cissé, Aurier, and Yobo will not only pull the balls from the pots but also offer their insights into the tournament groups that will be played in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
“They are some of the biggest names in African football, each with a rich history at the CAF AFCON,” an official CAF statement noted.
2025 AFCON Logo
Meanwhile, CAF has unveiled the official logo for the competition, as announced on its website.
The statement reads in part: “The new logo, a modern and iconic symbol for African football, celebrates the heritage and unity of the African continent.
“The CAF AFCON finals, set between 21 December 2025 and 18 January 2026 in Morocco, will mark a new chapter in the rich history of Africa’s greatest show. The logo bridges the worlds of sport and art, telling a story of pride, resilience, and hope.
“Inspired by Moroccan zellij, a timeless mosaic art form, the tournament logo redefines football as a canvas where creativity, precision, and passion collide.
“The logo reflects the synergy between tradition and modernity. Each pattern and shape symbolises the unity of nations, players, and fans, showcasing how football and art come together to create something extraordinary.
“The vibrant colours — gold for achievement, green for unity, red for resilience, and blue for boundless potential — transcend aesthetics. They embody the spirit of African football, representing the energy of the game, the strength of the players, and the passion of the fans.
“Merging the geometry of football with the intricate artistry of zellij, the logo captures the precision and movement of the game while honouring Africa’s cultural legacy. It celebrates African craftsmanship and the dynamic beauty of football.”
