The Nigerian Young Professionals Forum, NYPF, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari on the recent appointment of 40-year-old Abdulrasheed Bawa as EFCC Chair designate.
The forum in a statement made available to the press by its Chairman, Moses Siloko Siasia noted that as Nigeria moves to fully participate in the Fourth Industrial Revolution which requires more sophisticated skill sets, Bawa’s appointment is expected to usher in a paradigm shift in the administration of financial crimes and related matters in the nation, mindful of the evolving nature of modern financial crimes.
Mr Siasia who described the appointment of Bawa as deserving of commendation, stressed that the appointment satisfies the yearnings of many young Nigerians who desire to have youths appointed into sensitive positions, and who are capable of leading Nigeria into the future.
The chairman went on to note that the appointment of Mr. Bawa as EFCC Chairman was a well-considered decision that will enable Nigeria to tackle rising incidences of financial crime thereby positioning the country favourably in the global space.
According to him, the reality of modern financial crime justifies the appointment of a young EFCC Boss who is well equipped to comprehend the complexities of advanced technologies and innovations such as Cryptocurrencies, Blockchain technology, internet trading and e-commerce, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and numerous other emerging technologies which are pivotal to modern financial transactions.
He noted that this requires a young mind that can interpret, predict, regulate and recommend appropriate policies to fight financial and other related economic crimes.

While calling for support from all Nigerians to enable the newly appointed EFCC boss to accomplish his plans and programs for the commission in fulfilling the anti-corruption drive of the present government, Siasia said without the support and collective action it will be difficult for the new EFCC head to fulfil his mandate. In the same vein, he requested the senate to quickly confirm Bawa’s nomination to enable him discharge his full responsibilities without delays.
“We commend the president for appointing Mr. Bawa because we believe that this is the right step in the right direction.
“We live in the fourth industrial realm; it is only young people with great abilities, great ideas, and new skill sets that can conform and deal with modern-day realities of economic and financial crimes.
“We believe that this appointment will usher Nigeria into the full benefits of the fourth industrial revolution.”
On the other hand, Siasia called on the new EFCC boss to work hard to justify his appointment, by ensuring that he performs his duties without fear or favour.
“We implore the new EFCC boss to justify his appointment and do his duties with the highest level of professionalism and in abiding by the principle of national interest.
“We are mindful of the many distractions and how some others, with so much expectation, have disappointed and dashed the hopes of many Nigerians especially the youths.
“We, therefore, admonish him not to disappoint his generation, as some others have done.”
Similarly, Siasia applauded the President’s previous appointment of young Nigerians into sensitive positions especially that of Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad, the 38-year-old Managing Director of Rural Electrification Agency (REA), and 32-year-old Mr. Sabi’u Yusuf ‘Tunde’ who is the President’s Personal Assistant, saying such appointments will position young Nigerians to take charge of the future of the country.
He called on more young Nigerians to show interest and participate in seeking elective positions insisting that by doing so can Nigeria see the needed progress in conforming to modern-day reality.
