Debutants Zambia suffered another humiliating defeat in the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup after Spain beat them 5-0 on Wednesday.
It was their group C second match of the tournament co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
A brace from Alba Redondo and Jennifer Hermoso and a solitary strike by Teresa Abelleira compounded Zambia woes.
The Copper Queens of Zambia had earlier lost their first game at the World Cup by the same scoreline to Japan.
Abelleira gave Spain the lead in the 9th minute before Hermoso doubled their lead on 13 minutes.
Redondo added the third goal in the 69th minute while Hermoso scored the fourth just a minute later.
With five minutes left, Redondo made it five to complete the rout.
Meanwhile, the group other game saw Japan beat Costa Rica 2-0.
On Thursday, another African side Nigeria will face Australia in one of group D encounters.
